Koo Wee Rup CFA responds to more and more local incidents each year as the local community grows.
That’s why an elected Liberal Nationals Government will commit $2.5 million towards a new Koo Wee Rup CFA Station.
With a growing population and land in Koo Wee Rup being developed rapidly, local firefighters have strongly emphasised the importance of a new station being built near the town centre in order to maintain response times.
This funding will enable larger land to be acquired and build a new 2A station with 3 doors, suitable to fit the capacity of the new vehicles as it is now a requirement for a drive in, drive out station due to OH&S. The new station will also accommodate an increased number for volunteers.
An area substantially greater than just Koo Wee Rup will benefit from a new fire station, as Koo Wee Rup CFA often provide support to volunteers over a very significant area, commonly providing backup to both Lang Lang and Bayles CFA.
Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Emergency Services, Brad Battin:
“Daniel Andrews has been so busy fighting a war with CFA volunteers that communities like Koo Wee Rup have suffered.
The credit for this funding belongs to the local community and Brian Paynter who have worked together and made the case for this project so they can provide the best for our hard working volunteers.”
Comments attributable to Member for Bass, Brian Paynter:
“I am pleased Matthew Guy and the Liberal Nationals team have listen to my advocacy of this issue and have come to Koo Wee Rup to make this CFA announcement.
This is an important issue raised with me by local residents who live in Koo Wee Rup – and that is why a Liberal Nationals Government will make it a priority.”
