When the Andrews government announced that V Line rail passengers would no longer take passengers to and from Pakenham station it caused an influx of calls and emails to Member for Bass, Brian Paynter.
Last week an announcement was made to reverse the decision to all but two services.
The announcement, although a step in the right direction, will still have two return trains from Southern Cross not available for passengers getting off at Pakenham. The 4.16pm and 5.37pm weekday trains from the city will only be available to those travelling further than Pakenham.

I was being contacted regularly by constituents asking for me to represent them in parliament and have the decision reversed.
Many people travel from Phillip Island or Wonthaggi in order to board the V Line train. Those passengers are also regional and should have the same opportunity to board the train and travel to the city.
I received a petition of over 400 signatures from disgruntled residents from Pakenham resident, Valerie West asking for the decision to be overturned.
On hearing the news of the announcement I called Valerie and she was delighted to hear that both Valerie and her husband Michael could now travel into Melbourne without fear of fine.
