Labor’s ‘Home Safe’ 24 hour public transport trial has promised to place train commuters on the Pakenham Railway Line at risk and a budget blow out of $33.6 million.
Daniel Andrews announced only premium stations will have PSOs in place during their ‘Home Safe’ trail leaving commuters on non-premium stations unpatrolled.
Cardinia Station is considered by the Andrews’ Government to be a non-premium station and will be unpatrolled on Friday and Saturday nights during the trial.
Commuters wanting to get off at Cardinia Station will be left on their own with no protection provided by the Labor Government placing their safety at great risk.
Labor has placed the Pakenham Railway Line last again first cutting signalling upgrades and V/Line services and now protection for commuters when they need it most.
Quotes attributed to Brian Paynter MP the Member for Bass MP:
“If trains run during the night, then PSO’s should be on duty throughout the night to keep commuters safe.”
“Home-Safe should mean you get home safely without fear .”
Quotes attributed to Brad Battin MP the Member for Gembrook MP:
“Labor’s ‘Home Safe’ 24 hour public transport trial is over budget and under patrolled.”
“The Coalition introduced PSO’s to ensure commuters were able to travel home safely. It is a shame Daniel Andrew’s is not providing commuters with the protection when they need it most.”
