Wonthaggi Secondary College the missing link in the Bass education chain

Member for Bass, Brian Paynter MP, was delighted to hear from Tanya Hughes, President of the Bass Valley Community Centre & Neighbourhood Centre in Corinella, to share the wonderful news that the centre had been granted $900,000 towards the $2.2 million dollar project.

Tanya said the project is still waiting on the final $300,000 but all looks very positive.

The Bass Valley Community Centre will provide an integrated hub approach offering many services including four year old kindergarten, immunisation and after school care.

Brian Paynter was first introduced to the concept of the children’s centre prior to the 2014 election and has been involved with the committee since becoming the Member for Bass

The Bass Valley Children’s Centre will be an integrated early years’ centre in Corinella that will provide improved services to a number of rural, isolated townships in Bass Coast Shire.

Quotes attributable to Brian Paynter, Member for Bass

I have been working alongside the Bass Valley Children’s Centre committee and advocating on their behalf in parliament to highlight the need for the centre to proceed.

Whilst the funding for children’s centre is great news for the Bass Valley and waterline areas, it is now time for the Andrews Government to commit to funding the Wonthaggi Secondary College senior campus. Investment in education is very important in regional areas and demonstrates a strong message of growth and stability within the community.
